BuyFlowers Is Now International — Your options just got bigger and better.

By BuyFlowers Team30 March 20264 min read

We went international. Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, and the UK are live — with Rwanda, South Africa, the US, Canada, and the Netherlands on the way. Here's how it all works.

BuyFlowers Is Now International — Your options just got bigger and better.

Oh BuyFlowers has amazing news for you. We went international.

There's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes and honestly, we almost forgot to announce it — but better late than never we suppose! We've spent the past months trying to solve yet another real problem and we cannot wait to tell you all about it.

The Countries We're In Right Now

If you open the BuyFlowers app or visit the website today, you'll notice a small flag icon at the top of the page. That's the country switcher. Tap it and you'll see the countries we're currently live in:

  • Nigeria — our genesis where it all started, with delivery across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kaduna, and more
  • Ghana — now serving Accra with local Ghanaian Cedi (GH₵) pricing
  • Kenya — live in Nairobi with prices in Kenyan Shillings (KSh)
  • Tanzania — now serving Dar es Salaam with prices in Tanzanian Shillings (TSh)
  • United Kingdom — (will soon be) serving London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, and Brighton in British Pounds (£)

How the Country Switcher Works

Using it is straightforward. Tap the flag at the top of the screen — it defaults to wherever we think you are. Select a country from the dropdown. The entire site reloads with that country's products, pricing, and delivery options.

That's it. No extra steps.

If you have items in your cart, we'll let you know that switching will clear them — because prices are different per region and we want to make sure what you see is always accurate.

Why Local Pricing Matters

This is what we care the most about.

When you want to send flowers to someone in Nairobi, the last thing you should be doing is mentally converting Naira to Shillings and wondering if the price is fair. You shouldn't need to guess whether you're overpaying, or worry that the price has been inflated because you are buying from abroad.

BuyFlowers shows you what a local in that country would actually pay. KSh prices for Kenya. GH₵ for Ghana. GBP for the UK. Real prices, in the real currency, for real people receiving real flowers.

So if you're based in the UK and you want to surprise your mum in Lagos, you switch to Nigeria, browse what's available, and pay in Naira — the same price anyone in Lagos would pay. Not a tourist rate. Not a cross-border surcharge. Just the actual price.

That's the deal.

What "Curated Options" Actually Means

We're not just listing flowers and hoping for the best. Every country we launch in comes with a catalogue built around what makes sense there — the flowers available locally, the price points that are realistic, and the delivery infrastructure that can actually fulfil the order.

When you browse Kenya on BuyFlowers, you're seeing what's available in Nairobi. When you pick Ghana, you're getting Accra. We're not pretending we can deliver everywhere — we're trying to be honest about where we operate, and we want to do it well.

Countries Coming Soon

The flag switcher also shows you a few countries marked as "Soon." Those are the markets we're actively working to launch in:

  • Rwanda
  • South Africa
  • United States
  • Canada
  • Netherlands

It's not just a random list of countries. Each one is an intentional attempt to serve a community of people — in the diaspora and on the ground — who deserve the same seamless gifting experience we've built for Nigerians in the past 3 years.

Someone in Amsterdam sending flowers to a partner in Lagos. Someone in Toronto wanting to surprise a friend in Accra. Someone in Kigali just wanting to send something beautiful.

We're building toward all of that, and potentially even more (stay tuned!).

The Bigger Vision

Gifting across borders has always been complicated. Either you use an international service that inflates prices, or you send money and hope someone figures it out, or you just send a message and feel a little guilty about it.

BuyFlowers exists to close that gap. Not just for flowers, but for the feeling that comes with them. The feeling that someone thought about you enough to actually send something. That they knew your city, knew your currency, knew what something beautiful costs where you live — and they sent it anyway.

That's what we're building. Country by country, city by city.

The switcher is just the beginning.
